Essex : Fort Coalhouse & Fort Tilbury

The Two Forts Way trail. The visitor goes from Coalhouse Fort to Tilbury Fort through 17 historical points of interest, passing by the East Tilbury Battery, the Minefield Control Room, Coalhouse Point, Bowaters Farm AA Battery, World War Two pillboxes, finishing at Tilbury Town and the docks. The trail includes aerial views of the forts and digital 3D reconstructions and films showing they looked in former times, as well as a video showing how they would have worked if an enemy had tried to attack.

 Fort Amherst (Medway)

Built between 1756-1812 to protect the Royal Dockyard, discover one of the most complete and the largest Napoleonic fortresses in the United Kingdom. This guided tour allows you to walk around the many gun batteries and defensive structures which make up the fort. Starting at the former gatehouse and finishing on the roof of the Grand Magazine, where there are stunning views of the surrounding land and the river."
